Yes — most cracks can be repaired and coated over successfully as part of standard prep. Hairline cracks and typical settling cracks are filled with a flexible epoxy or polyurea crack filler before the coating goes on. Active, moving cracks (from ongoing foundation movement) need to be evaluated separately, since coating over unstable movement can cause the repair to fail again.
Most residential garage slabs have some hairline cracking from normal concrete shrinkage during curing, or minor settling over years — this is expected and routinely filled and coated over without issue.
The filler material matters: a flexible, semi-rigid crack filler moves slightly with the concrete’s natural expansion and contraction, preventing the same crack from telegraphing back through the new coating.
